Paradox Lake Campground is found nestled in Dark Bay on Paradox Lake, and offers a host of activities including fishing, paddling and hiking.
There are 58 campsites on the grounds with restrooms and showers available to campers. Boat and canoe rentals are available for those who wish to explore the lake on the water. A large day use picnic area with many tables, grills and a covered pavilion is found near the beach area. A drive-in boat launch is found near the booth at the entrance to the campground.
Access to hiking trails for Crane, Oxshoe, Crab, Putnam and Horseshoe Ponds, and 441-acre Pharaoh Lake and Pharaoh Mountain (2,551 feet) is also available from the campground. The Pharaoh Lake Wilderness is a vast, 46,000-acre area with over 70 miles of trails, 38 primitive tent sites and 14 lean-tos that are available to hikers in this wilderness area. In addition, there are 14 designated tent sites on the shore of Pharaoh Lake along the Pharaoh Lake Loop Trail.
An interesting fact is that during the peak run-off seasons, the flow of this lake reverses until the water table returns to normal.
