Auger Falls is a dramatic waterfall in a narrow gorge on the Sacandaga River. The rapids continue above and below the falls, providing exceptional scenery throughout most of the year. Hemlocks line the banks, and at low water, potholes formed by the scouring of small rocks in eddies can be found all over the river bed. The falls are only about 30 feet from top to bottom, but the distinct channels and many changes of direction make it a spectacular destination nonetheless.

From the parking area, follow the dirt road on the southeast end of the dirt parking lot a for a few hundred yards until you see the trail register on your left. From here it's about a quarter mile to the clearing at the edge of the falls. Unmarked footpaths continue up and downstream. The best view of the falls is from downstream among the trees. Be very careful, as the gorge walls are often slippery and deceptively steep.

The unmarked footpath continues upstream and loops back to the parking area, creating a 1.2-mile loop.
