True's Ledges

Whether you’re looking for a scenic place to take a walk or a nearby swimming hole to cool off in, you can find both at True’s Ledges Natural Area.

Watch your step at the trailhead, where there may be some poison ivy, and continue into the woods, where the trail widens a bit. The soft trail isn’t marked, but it is very short, easy to follow, and has good footing. Take a peek down into the gorge from one of three overlooks, where you’ll see True’s Brook flowing through the rocks. Take extra care along the edges at viewpoints; a fall into the gorge would be extremely dangerous. Continue a short distance to a sign that points the way down a gradual grade to access the water between two waterfalls.

The shoreline here is mostly rocky with a small, open area to store your towel or sit by the brook. The rock formations here are slanted and create an interesting landscape, framing a picturesque waterfall under a bridge upstream. Wade into the water and find an eddy to relax in or explore the area just downstream, where there are rocks to jump from when water levels are safe enough. Spend an hour, an afternoon, or a whole day enjoying this crystal clear, refreshing water.
