Bear Brook State Park

Bear Brook State Park is one of New Hampshire’s largest state parks, boasting 10,000 acres of mountains, ponds, and marshes along with 40 miles of trails. The main entrance to Bear Brook State Park brings visitors to a large parking area for hiking and biking or to a trailhead for horseback riders, where many trails may be accessed. Hikers can stroll along Bear Brook on the Bear Brook Trail or hike up to a scenic view on Catamount Hill. Fly fish at Archery Pond, or teach the kids to fish at the kids-only fishing pond. There are two archery ranges and a vast network of trails for mountain biking. Bear Brook State Park’s campground has 101 sites to choose from with a small beach open only to campground guests. There is a playground, a softball field, and an open play area, offering a family-friendly experience. Additionally, a day-use swimming beach is available to the public at Catamount Pond, a short drive from the main entrance. 

Interpretive programs are offered all summer, and you can learn about the park’s history by visiting one the park's museums, which are housed in historic buildings themselves. Bear Brook State Park was once the site of a Civilian Conservation Corps camp, with its buildings built around 1935. If you enjoy snowmobiling, visit the New Hampshire Antique Snowmobile Museum to learn about the sport’s history and see the museum’s collection of snowmobiles. During the winter, Bear Brook State Park becomes a great place for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling.
