Spring Mountain Ranch State Park

Spring Mountain Ranch State Park is a historical ranch property located at the Las Vegas Valley's western fringe immediately south of the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Its grounds have a colorful lineage of past ownership including German actress Vera Krupp and the eccentric aviator Howard Hughes, and this history is combined with ecological areas of interest such as natural water springs and the only naturally-growing ash tree grove in Southern Nevada.

The park has a large grass-covered area dotted with picnic tables and grills, including a group area that can be reserved. Some of the area's oldest structures stand throughout the park, including cabins and a blacksmith shop. The main ranch house contains a museum with artifacts and images of the site's history. There is a small gift and snack shop inside here as well. The park's hiking trails include:

• Ash Grove Trail, which leads to the park's groves of Arizona ash trees.
• Overlook Loop Trail, which passes the cemetery of one of the ranch's past pioneering families and leads to an overlook of the area.
• Lake Harriet Loop Trail, which was closed for rehabilitation as of Summer of 2018. A portion of this must be hiked to access the Sandstone Canyon Loop Trail.
• Sandstone Canyon Loop Trail, which traces an arid singletrack up to the base of the neraby mountain towers.
