Northshore Summit

This short, but somewhat steep, hike to the top of Northshore Summit provides a stellar view of the surrounding landscape, and can also be extended into a longer hike if so desired.

The trail begins at a parking area just off Northshore Road in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The hike -- only half a mile round trip -- climbs rather steeply up to the bluff that is known as Northshore Summit. The top is a bit exposed so be sure to keep an eye on any small children if you have brought them along.

The views from the summit are absolutely spectacular. You’ll be able to see the Northshore Road meandering below, peaks including Muddy Mountain and Northshore Peak, and the red rocks of the Bowl of Fire.

When satisfied with the summit views, return the way you came back to the trailhead. Continuing onward from the summit is also an option for those looking to extend their hike and venture down toward the Bowl of Fire.
