Two Medicine Lake

Two Medicine Lake is one of the least-visited road-served areas of Glacier National Park. It also happens to be one of the most scenic, but it is a bit off of the beaten track, and what was once the main access point for the park has become less visited due to its distance from the Going-to-the-Sun Road. There is a commercial boat trip across the lake, and trails encircle the entire shore, but one of the best ways to experience the scenery and tranquility of “Two Med” is by canoe or kayak. Luckily for those who didn’t bring a boat, they are available to rent at the east dock near the general store.

Kayakers have many options in paddling Two Med. The shoreline is not very varied, and there are no wetlands except for the far western end, but the scenery from any vantage point is marvelous, and there are several beaches to pull up boats and experience nearly complete solitude. The lake is about 2 miles long.

While dogs are not allowed on any park trails, they are allowed on the lake for a ride and a swim.
