There are a wealth of day-hiking choices in the Two Medicine Lake area of Glacier National Park, but one often overlooked option is the nice, short hike up to Aster Park Overlook, with a bonus waterfall thrown in for good measure.

Starting from the South Shore Trailhead behind the boat kiosk at Two Medicine Lake, the hike begins on the South Shore Trail, passing the short spur out to Paradise Point (the view is not much different than from the boat dock, but there is a nice beach for hanging out or swimming). About 1 mile farther, the trail to Aster Park forks left and it is just 0.2 mile to the falls. In addition to exploring the base of the falls, be sure to take the short spur to the top of the falls from the main trail. The last leg of the hike climbs another few hundred feet and about 1 mile to the end of the trail at the overlook. From here the scenery is great, including panoramic views of Two Medicine Lake and Rising Wolf Mountain. To the south, there is a view up the Aster Creek drainage to Mount Ellsworth and Appistoki Peak.
