Just south of the big city of Memphis, Tennessee, you will find the town of Holly Springs, Mississippi. Holly Springs is renowned for its antebellum homes that were built in the 1800s. Just 7.5 miles south you will find Wall Doxey State Park, a popular destination for many locals. Wall Doxey is on the west edge of the Holly Springs National Forest, which spans another 25 miles south to Oxford, Mississippi.

If you have ever been to North Mississippi as a child, chances are you've been to Wall Doxey with family or friends. For many, this park is one of the top 10 parks in the state. Here you will find several types of trees and other vegetation that are unique to the Delta. From the thirsty cypress to the thin pines, this is what many Southerners call home. One of the best parts of this park is the campgrounds. Whether you are roughing it, renting a cabin, or your bringing your RV, Wall Doxey has a place for you at a reasonable rate.

If you are looking for cabins near the lake, your best bets are cabins 6 and 7. They both come with one bedroom, two full beds, kitchen and a bath. They fit four people comfortably, and the fishing hole is at your back door. If you have a larger group, cottage 1 and cabin 3 are great options. These both have two bedrooms, different bedding options, kitchen and a bath. When it comes to RV spots, the favorite is site 1. There are 62 standard campsites with electricity to choose from. There are also 17 primitive campsites in this park. They are all similar in location and rating.

One more amazing thing about this park is the hike around the lake. It's a great place to see the Delta reclaiming itself. The 1.9-mile hike around the lake can have some worn out areas, so please watch your step. This easy hike takes you around the entire lake, showcasing numerous species of trees that populate this region. At the end of the hike, you can see several species of fish playing around in the grassy areas of the lake. Welcome to the Delta where the South will always welcome you.
