The hike to Cascade Falls in Tettegouche State Park is not one of the most popular hikes at the park, but it certainly a worthwhile hike. This trail is the only one in the park that closely follows the Baptism River. This is an out-and-back hike that is a total of 1.6 miles in length.

Parking for this hike is available at the visitor center or a parking area off the road right before the bridge over the Baptism River. The trailhead for this hike is across the bridge and to the left. The trail goes under the bridge and follows along the river upstream.  The trail gains about 100 feet in elevation on its way to the falls. There are a number of stairs (which are in very good condition) that must be taken along the way. The trail is narrow but well-worn with many ups and downs. There are several opportunities to view the river along the way.

After hiking 0.8 miles you will arrive at Cascade Falls. For the best views you will have to do a bit of scrambling over rocky terrain. This waterfall is a slide with a 12 foot drop. After spending time admiring the falls, return the way you came.
