Pocomoke State Park

Pocomoke River State Park is a great example of what the southern Eastern Shore has to offer and has something for everybody. Upon entering Shad's Landing, the first thing you'll notice is the large boat ramp leading into the Pocomoke River. Canoes and kayaks are available to rent for a small fee and can be taken out into the Pocomoke River following the Corker's Creek Canoe Trail.

Past the large pavilions and playground, which include shaded picnic tables and grills for public use, you will find the entrance to the trail system. These trails take you on a journey through forests of tall pines, bald cypress swamps, and along the shores of the Pocomoke River. None of these trails are very physically demanding, but they can become muddy due to the swampy nature of the region.

Pocomoke River State Park has had a dynamic history. Most of the land was at one time cleared and used for grazing and farming. This all changed when the great depression struck, causing the local farming population to sell off their land to the government in order to make ends meet.
