Wilderness Gateway Campground is located at milepost 122.5 along the Northwest Passage Scenic Byway and the All American Road (U.S. Highway 12). The campground is located in a heavily wooded forest and adjacent to the Lochsa River. It is one of Nez-Perce Clearwater National Forest's premier campgrounds. The Lochsa River is famous for its whitewater rafting opportunities. Fishing here can be great, too.
The campground has 91 sites that offer RV camping, tent camping, group camping, and stock (equestrian) camping. All sites come with a picnic table and a campfire ring with a grill. The campground can accomodate RVs up to 50 feet in length. Stock camping is offered in Loop D only and provides access to hitching rails, watering and feeding stations, and a staging area. Group camping offers an adjacent group shelter that can accomodate up to 200 people and access to a utility room, electrical outlets, and lights. Most sites can be reserved through Recreation.gov, while some are first-come, first-served. Sites 7,10, 12, 22 and 23 Loop C offers river access just steps away from your site.
