Wai'uli Beach Park - also sometimes called Leleiwi Beach Park - is one of numerous park areas along the stretch of coastline extending east from Hilo.

Wai'uli is a bit smaller than others, with several covered picnic tables, coastal tide pools in the lava rock shore, bathrooms and showers, and, the highlight here, large spring fed ponds that are ideal for swimming in. With clear waters surfacing, the springs are cool and calm, surrounded by grass lawn. Another pond near the shore will mix with the seawater when the tide is high enough.

This park is popular with the locals, particularly on weekends, when the picnic pavilions will be full and the pond will have lots of activity going on. But in general, this park feels a bit more quiet than some of the other neighboring beach parks.

The spring water is much cooler than the sea water, however the springs also keep the pools idyllically clear.

Parking is extremely limited here. Wai'uli is open from 7am to 7pm daily. There is no cost to visit.

There are no lifeguards here.
