Kamalo Bay is the former site of a wharf that extended into the calm waters. Today the bay is a quiet park, where locals fish from the shores or launch small boats, though no longer with the aid of any wharf.

Located down a short unsigned dirt road just before the Kamehameha Highway makes a 90 degree turn to the left, Kamalo Bay today is a calm and quiet bay. There are trees providing shade, and a handbuilt shade structure over some picnic tables with communal children's toys. The quaint park definitely carries the feel of Molokai in that there is no pretentiousness trying to appeal to any type of tourism here.

The bay is shallow, with cloudy water near the shore, so it's not the best for swimming or wading. However just beyond the tip of the land where the remains of the wharf jut out of the sand, a deep channel reaches in. You might see locals pushing their boats out here to fish in the quiet surrounding waters. The island of Lanai can be seen in the near distance.

There are no amenities at the bay - no bathrooms, no running water, not even a sign marking its location. A short dirt road leads from the highway to the bay. The road is generally clear to all vehicle types, though smaller cars may want to check conditions following wet weather.

Kamalo Bay is worth stopping at for a peaceful walk around a somewhat hidden Molokai beach.
