Fontein Cave is one of several accessible cave complexes within the Aruba's Arikok National Park.
Fontein Cave is the park's best and most numerous examples of Amerindian petroglyph art, which is easily visible from the short loop path that enters and circles the interior of the cave.
The cave extends back about 312' into the limestone rock. Bats, crabs, stalactites, stalagmites and algae are all also present inside the cave. The algae is responsible for the gradient of color of the interior cave walls.
Arawak petroglyph art is visible and well lit by natural light that filters inside through the cave's entrance. It is most heavily concentrated on the ceiling a short distance inside the cave.
Park rangers are stationed outside and able to answer questions and explain some of the history and significance of the rock art. Additionally, a short walking path to Plantage Fontein leaves from the downhill corner of the parking area.
There are vault bathrooms in the parking area and drinking water available at the ranger booth.
Fontein Cave is subject to all Arikok National Park rules, including entry fees and visiting hours.
