Radium Hot Springs

Among the countless jewels in Colorado's treasure chest, Radium Hot Springs shines particularly bright. These hot springs are situated right on the Colorado River just 15 miles southwest of Kremmling and less than an hour north of Edwards.

Maybe it’s the mineral-rich water that rejuvenates the skin after a relaxing soak that makes this place special, or perhaps it’s the thrill of the 45-foot cliff jump. For rafters on float trips down the river, the natural, undeveloped hot springs can be a serendipitous encounter on a journey full of hidden gems. For travelers on a day trip, Radium Hot Springs is just three-quarters of a mile from a parking area on County Highway 11 near the river. It can also be accessed from the Mugrage Campground parking lot near the intersection of Highway 11 and Trough Road.

The hike starts with a very steep, short climb up to a plateau where a wide, smooth dirt path follows the river north through several dispersed campsites. After just over a half mile, take the path toward the river and a steep descent down to the hot springs.

The pool is often washed out when the Colorado River runs high with spring snow melt. During the rest of the year a warm pool forms from rocks that are built up to create a space that is approximately 15 feet in diameter. The water temperature can vary anywhere from 85 to 95 degrees.
