Each of the campgrounds along the Taylor River near Gunnison, Colorado, have something special to offer, whether it is the close river access of North Bank or Rosey Lane, the lake access and views of Rivers End or the RV-free zone of Granite Tent Campground. One Mile is the most expensive of them all (though still reasonable by commercial campground standards), and it boasts electric hookups at every site, plenty of privacy, shade in the spruce forest, and some of the closest access to Crested Butte and Gunnison. It also has excellent cell coverage.
The sites in this campground are distributed on either side of a single camground road with a loop turnaround at the end. About a third of the sites are first-come, first-served, and the rest are reservable. There are vault toilets and full pressure faucets (rather than hand water pumps). There are several pull-through sites, and there is plenty of room between sites. This campground is most popular with RV campers because of the electric connections, but it is excellent for tent campers as well because of the privacy provided by the dense woods and site separation.
As with the other campgrounds in the Taylor River canyon, One Mile can be a great base camp for all of the activities of the area--wihitewater paddling, fishing, hiking, mountain biking and taking in the summer festivals and other amenities of Crested Butte and Gunnison.
