The Mesa Lakes Lodge is primarily a facility for cabin rentals and recreational activities in the Mesa Lakes Recreation Area. Set on the banks of beautiful Beaver Lake and near several other lakes within a five-minute walk, this is a perfect place to relax, get away from it all, paddle, and fish.
The lodge is open all year and caters to hunters in the fall, cross-country skiers and snowmobilers in the winter, and families wanting to fish and swim in the summer. The common facilities are very limited; there is no store, and the small restaurant is only open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are six cabins with two or three bedrooms, electricity and plumbing, and seven bungalows with electricity but no bathrooms (they share a recently-renovated common shower house). Pets are allowed in the cabins for a $25 fee per pet.
Nearby activities include all that the Grand Mesa has to offer--hiking, horseback riding, boating, fishing, OHV use, and just plain relaxing. There are over 300 lakes in the Grand Mesa area. When the weather heats up to more than 100 degrees in the valleys below, the 10,000-foot mesa is usually 20 to 30 degrees cooler. The one downside to the Grand Mesa is a profusion of early-season bugs; the mosquitos are everywhere, so bring insect repellent.
