This beautiful alpine lake located just east of the Continental Divide is one of the Arkansas River Valley's best gems. The short trail to Lost Lake can be tough to follow due to snow in the early spring and summer months. Along the trail you'll pass another high alpine lake that is popular among fishermen and see plenty of wildflowers in the spring and summer.

There is a small pull-out off Highway 306 just before you get to the Continental Divide to park. From the highway, head east through the trees. Shortly after you start walking you'll come across a meadow that is one of the most well-marked sections of the trail. The trail will lead you past a little pond before you have to cross a couple of small streams and through a final grove of trees. Once through this last grove, you'll exit into a bit of a rock field. You'll have to cross some boulders before picking up the final leg of the trail that takes you to the lake.
