Boyd Lake State Park offers visitors 1,700 surface acres of water to dip into, fish, and paddle within walking distance of downtown Loveland. With an extensive list of amenities, a summer day may include a range of activities, from kayaking to stand-up paddling, picnicking, playing on its broad and sandy beach, and renting a motorboat from its marina.
Add camping to that list. With 148 lakeside campsites, the Boyd Lake State Park Campground is an easy-access and all-inclusive campground for travelers to the Loveland area or for residents who seek a night away from home. The sites offer pull-through, paved parking at each site, which can accommodate vehicles up to 40 feet in length—Boyd Lake is ideal for almost any RV. Each site provides electric hookups, a picnic table, and a grill. A maximum of six campers are allowed at each site. Most sites have limited privacy. Boyd Lake offers laundry facilities, an unusual feature for campgrounds, in addition to coin-operated showers.
A small network of trails circles the western shore of Boyd Lake. Fishing opportunities can be found at the fishing pier. The park features a broad swim beach and a day use area with a picnicking pavilion.
The comfortable amenities at Boyd Lake State Park Campground will limit the rustic backcountry feel, especially being situated near the heart of Loveland. Nevertheless, it is an excellent option for Colorado camping when you are not venturing into the Front Range.
