Spanish Creek Campground sits on descending loop roads on Spanish Creek near its confluence with Indian Creek.
The campground feels like it lies in the heart of the forest, with the creek cutting through a mountainous valley that catches the morning fog in its forest slopes. There are two main areas of the campground: an upper loop that sits amongst the dense trees, and a lower loop on a flat area near the Spanish Creek Day Use Area with creekside access to the water, however slightly less privacy from neighboring sites.
Each site has a table, fire pit with grill, food lockers and a hook to hang food from. Vault toilets are set throughout the campground with water spigots located adjacent to each one. A host is onsite at the upper loop.
Some sites are available only on a first come, first served basis, while others are reservable through Recreation.gov. There is also a group camp area that has several group sites.
One point of interest is a small trail located behind Site 6 that leads about a half mile to a calm area in the creek suitable for swimming during low flow.
Train whistles from nearby tracks may be heard throughout the days here. There are no showers inside the campground.
