The Mori Ridge Trail begins in Pacifica’s Vallemar District and ascends Sweeney Ridge in a short and steep 2-mile climb. Sweeney Ridge is part of Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and it marks the northern termination of the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Panoramic views from the summit include the Pacific Ocean, San Francisco Bay, the Marin Headlands, and Mount Diablo. On a perfectly clear day, the Farallon Islands can be seen on the western horizon.

The broad service road that traverses Mori Ridge is open to hikers, mountain bikers and horses. From the summit, many continue north to the Notch Trail or south to the Sweeney Ridge Trail. Notch Trail does not allow horses or bikes, however.

A there-and-back trip from the Mori Ridge Trailhead to the junction of Sweeny Ridge Trail and Notch Trail is roughly 4 miles with 1,020 feet of elevation change. The exposed trail features a variety of wildlife and flowers in addition to the stunning Pacific views. Temperatures can change quickly as the fog rolls in, so dress accordingly. No water or restrooms exist on the trail.

Trailhead parking is available behind Shelldance Orchid Nursery east of Highway 1, just south of Westport Drive.
