Horr Pond

Horr Pond is one of several areas in Ahjumawi Lava Springs State Park. It is the closest pond to the Rat Farm Boat Launch and a great spot for a day of paddling or an overnight paddle to Horr Pond Campground. The Rat Farm Boat Launch is managed by PG&E and provides access to Ahjumawi Lava Springs State Park, which begins at the border of Horr Pond. Motorized boats, which are allowed just outside of the park, are not allowed on Horr Pond.

Ahjumawi Lava Springs State Park is a magnificent and unique park containing one of the nation's largest system of underwater springs as well as 6,000 acres of recent lava flows. Because of the large volcanic presence in this park, there are many interesting basaltic lava features such as pit crates, lava tubes, and pressure ridges. The springs that flow through the park pump about 1.2 billion gallons of water a day through many lava features.
