Davenport Landing beach is a small ocean beach located just north of the town of Davenport. This beach is a great place to sit and enjoy a sun set or just the crashing of the waves. There is a swing set built just above the beach where kids and adults alike can swing carefree. Several benches are also dotted around the bluffs that overlook the beach. Some short trails lead along the bluffs to El Jarro Point, where John Pope Davenport first built a house.

The town of Davenport was named after John Davenport after he built a large wharf to load lumber and other materials harvested from the Santa Cruz Mountains. The town eventually developed just to the south. Unfortunately for him the nearby creek, Agua Puerca Creek, carried so much silt and sediment into the ocean that it prevented ships from docking at the wharf. Eventually Mr. Davenport went bankrupt and moved to Santa Cruz. Many years later the Santa Cruz Portland Cement Company purchased some of the land in the old town of Davenport and build the cement manufacturing plant that still stands today.
