Applewhite Campground is a US Forest Service operated campground near the Lytle Creek area at the fast eastern end of the San Gabriel Mountains around the Cajon Pass.

Set on grassy grounds within a dramatic mountainous landscape, Applewhite Campground is in a generally quiet glen that sees little traffic. While the Lytle Creek and Cajon Pass areas are a short drive away, there are a couple small towns nearby and not much else.

The campgrounds are basic - each site contains in picnic table and fire pit with grill. When the campground is not at capacity, there is plenty of space between sites, however if the campground is near full, adjacent neighbors won't have much privacy between them.

Applewhite Campground has two buildings with flushing toilets, however there are no showers. Pets are permitted on leash. There are 42 total sites, with spaces that are sufficient for small/medium sized trailers. There are no electric/water hookups and no dump station.

The campground is closed on Wednesdays, so no camping is permitted on Tuesday nights.

The nearby Lytle Creek Ranger Station (1209 Lytle Creek Road) is a good resource for maps of trails and information on surrounding recreational opportunities.
