Roper Lake State Park Campground is a spacious camping area within the larger Roper Lake State Park near the town of Safford.
The campground has 58 sites set over three distinct paved loop roads, with each loop catering to a certain type of camper.
Each site on Hacienda Loop has water and electrical hook ups beside large pull in pads for RVs. Cottonwood Loop has more modest spaces with most also having water and electrical hook ups as well as a covered picnic table. And Gila Loop has non electric sites spread around several rustic cabin buildings which are available for rent and one large group camping area.
The campgrounds are set within the larger park, which is open year round and offers day use areas, fishing, boating, swimming, and hiking trails. The park sits in view of Mt. Graham to the west.
Sites have fire pits, and the campground is served by a modern bathroom building with showers. There is an RV dump station located outside of the camping area as well.
A small gift store is located inside the entrance station. Campers should be aware that the entrance gate to the park is closed and locked nightly at 9pm.
Reservations can be made at the Arizona State Parks website. Prices range from about $20 per night for non-electric sites to $30 for sites with hook ups to $60 for a rental cabin.
