The Mingus Mountain Recreation Area is in the Prescott National Forest and sits in the ponderosa pine forest high on the ridge above Jerome and Cottonwood. Only open from May through October, this small campground is much cooler than the valleys below and offers nice camping opportunities for both tenters and RV campers.

There are two loops in the campground. A-loop has 28 back-in sites with no hookups. There is also one large double site for larger groups. The area is for tents or RVs and is densely wooded with nice privacy between sites. The B-loop has 12 pull-through sites with electrical hookups for RVs only. This area is less shady and more open with little privacy between sites. There are electrical hookups only. There are accessible sites in both loops and accessible toilets. Drinking water is available, but not for filling RV tanks.

The Woodchute Wilderness and Woodchute Trail are nearby, as is the historic mining town of Jerome and the state historical site adjacent. Mingus Mountain Recreation Area offers many trails, a nice lake, picnic areas, vista points, and, best of all, welcome relief from the hot Arizona summers!
