Cape Royal Road Overlooks

If you are visiting the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, the Cape Royal Road overlooks are not to be missed. Combining no less than six stunning overlooks with interesting side hikes and historical exhibits, this scenic drive can be an all-day excursion or a few-hour flash tour of the Grand Canyon. Traveling through ponderosa pines forests and thick stands of aspen and alpine meadows, a visitor is likely to see some of the more than 20,000 mule deer or 400 bison that roam the park.

Each of the main viewpoints – Point Imperial, Vista Encantada, Roosevelt Point, Walhalla Overlook, and Cape Royal – offers a somewhat different perspective on the canyons. The excavated Puebloan ruins and historic cabin at Walhalla and Greenland Lake make easy and educational stops. For those with more time, the hike out to Cape Final is considered by many to be the premier hike on the North Rim, and the Cliff Springs Trail is easy and beautiful.
