Bonita Canyon Campground is the only camping and lodging option located inside Chiricahua National Monument.
The campground maintains a basic feel, with 25 sites lying along two small loop roads in the park's lower elevation forest. Each site contains a picnic bench, food locker and fire pit, along with a flat spot for setting up a tent.
Water spigots and a central flush bathroom building are set in the campground, however there are no showers and no RV hook ups of any kind.
While Bonita Canyon has seen flooding in the past - and some of the campground structures will show this - for the most part the creek remains calm and quiet, providing a good spot to dip your feet if visiting in the summer Arizona heat, while also drawing some of the local wildlife. Park trails along the creek have a trailhead at one end of the campground.
Set at an elevation of over 5000', the campground stays cooler than the desert floor, however may see rain and snow during the winter season.
A group campsite is available at site 26.
As the only lodging option inside the national monument, as well as one of the only lodging options in the entire area, Bonita Canyon Campground will often reach capacity during the summer months. It is strongly suggested that visitors make a reservation well before their visit.
