The Burgess Falls Trail is considered easy; the trail is a total of 1.6 miles with a total elevation gain of 209 ft. The trail is well maintained by the park service, though it can be muddy after rain. Along the trail, there are a couple of places where it drops off some. Always be sure to watch and hang on to your children.
Before you get to the Middle Falls, there is a set of stairs you have to climb to get to the viewpoint of the falls. The stairs are the most exhausting part of the hike.
With 3 waterfalls, Burgess Falls State Park has much to offer! The park does also have a playground near the parking lot, along with a butterfly garden!
The park used to have steps that led to the base of the waterfall. Several years ago, a huge flood came and washed away the stairs that led to the bottom of the waterfall. Now, the only way to get to the base is to kayak to it.
To kayak to the base of Burgess Falls, you have to put your kayak in at Cane Hollow on Center Hill Lake.
There are guided trips available for kayaking to the base of the falls!
