Fluebrig + Diethelm Loop

Fluebrig is a mountain in Schwyz. Fluebrig has two main peaks, Diethelm and Turner. The hike offers great views of the surrounding mountains and the Wägitalersee.

The hike starts at the bus station in Studen. Unfortunately, the bus only runs every two hours, so you can also take the bus to Euthal, Höhport, and walk to the trailhead. From Ochsenboden, follow the road around the curve toward the golf course. Directly across from the parking lot, follow the sign directing you to Fluebrig.

The hike first leads up a gravel road for 4.35 kilometers, at which point it begins heading up a trail. The trail is fairly steep and strenuous, though not overly technical. If your timing is right, in mid-July the blueberry bushes along parts of the trail will be ripe! At 6.4 kilometers the trail passes by Alp Obergross, a small barn with a fountain where you can refill your water (at your own risk if you don't purify, but fountains are usually safe). From here the Turner summit is visible. The trail leads up and left toward the ridge less than half a mile later. From here the impressive Wandlispitz can be seen, as well as the Diethelm peak.

Continue along the trail toward the summit. At the signpost you can decide if you want to summit Diethelm or not. The excursion takes 20 minutes total out-and-back, but it is a steep alpine trail rated T4-T5. There are two ladders and several chains leading to the summit.

Next you'll hike down the switchbacking trail toward Innerthal and the Wägitalersee. The trail is fairly steep and rocky, but there are great views of the lake below and the surrounding peaks. For the next 4 kilometers there is only one trail, so just follow it all the way down. At the next two junctions, continue straight/left toward Studen and/or Fläschlihöchi. The trail passes through forest and wetlands until you end up on a gravel road, which leads you straight back to Studen, where there is another drinking fountain.
