Joseph Stewart Park Campground (now operated as a Jackson County Park rather than a State Park), is a very large campground located near the popular recreation area that includes a spacious lake for boating in.
With over 200 sites set upon a former ranch property along the Rogue River, Joseph Stewart Park Campground is geared those looking to enjoy some of the destinations and activities in the surrounding areas, which ranges from fishing and boating on the lake to visiting Crater Lake National Park. Of the sites, 150 have water and power hook ups.
The campground is laid out in four loops, each with a central lawn and bathroom building that has free showers. There is also an amphitheater and playground between B and D loops.
With so many sites, there is not much space between neighborhing sites, however there are few times throughout the year when this year round campground is packed with campers in every site. A group camp is also available.
Apple, pear and black walnut trees can be found, remains of the land's former time as a ranch. An RV dump station is available near the entrance. A trail connects the campground to the resort area with boat launch, groceries and amenities. In all, there is about 5.5 miles of trail accessible from the campground.
Reservations can be taken over the phone at (541) 774-8183 or online.
