Cascade Locks Marine Park is located alongside the Columbia River Gorge and is a great place to visit if you find yourself in Cascade Locks, Oregon. Sailing, fishing, camping and picnicking are just a few of the activities that can be enjoyed here.
You’ll find plenty of open space to relax or recreate at Cascade Locks Marine Park, including Thunder Island. This decent sized island offers great views of the gorge and the iconic Bridge of the Gods nearby. You’ll find picnic tables spread throughout the park.
The Marine Park is of course a good starting point for anyone looking to get out on the Columbia. There is a boat ramp available, and at the east end of the park you’ll find a marina. The park is also the home port for the Sternwheeler Columbia Gorge. During summer months visitors can enjoy a sightseeing excursion or dinner cruise on the sternwheeler.
The park also offers a small campground with 16 available campsites. During summer months a large grassy area is open for PCT hikers or bikepackers to camp.
Lastly, the park is a worthwhile destination for history buffs. There is a historical museum located in one of the park’s three historic locks tender’s houses (built in 1905). The Oregon Pony (a steam locomotive) can also be found here. The Oregon Pony was first used in 1862, and was the first of its kind locomotive to be built and used in Oregon.
