Dove Dike Trail is one of several easy walking trails crossing the basin of the Pahranagat Valley within Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge.

At 1.5 miles roundtrip with very little elevation change, this easy walking path follows a gravel double track restricted to officla park vehicle use only. Given the emptiness of the area, hikers here will very likely find themselves alone within the vast desert landscape.

Beginning at a small pullout not far from where the refuge's gravel road splits from Highway 93, a few small signs marking the trail are the only amenities one will find here. The path crosses the shadeless valley floor, passing by a couple small ponds where birds and aquatic life can be observed. The route follows a mostly straight course until hitting a locked access gate on the opposite side. Walking up to this gate provides the only elevation change of the hike and offers a slightly higher perspective of the valley. It is amazing to take in the vastness and simultaneous lack of noise of this landscape.

Hikers should be aware that hunting is permitted in the refuge on Tuesdays, Thursday and Saturdays, and with relatively few access points to the valley, should be prepared to contend with the possibility of hunters not far off of this trail on those days.

There are no amenities here however water and bathrooms are available at the Refuge Visitor Center about a mile away.
