Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Campground is a small camping area along a paved loop road that caters to different types of camping, including walk in sites, car camping and RVs.
The campground is within the Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area, however is set a fair distance away from the popular day use areas, affording a bit of quiet from the activity along the river. With around two dozen sites, campers get a picnic bench, most of which are shaded. Many sites contains electric hook ups, and some with pull through concrete pads. While there is a fair amount of space between neighboring sites, there is no natural plants or barriers to provide any type of privacy.
All sites within the State Recreation Area are strictly first come, first served, with no reservations available. There is one central bathroom building, which offers coin op showers. Horseshoe pits are also located in the campground.
Two of the park's hiking trails begin right across from the bathroom building, however these trails tend to remain pretty quiet the majority of the time.
The park also offers an RV dump site nearer to the entrance booth.
Fees vary based on factors such as walk in vs RV sites, and whether the camper's vehicle has Nevada or out-of-state plates. More details can be found at the official park website.
