Casibari Rock Formations

Casibari Rock Formation is a unique collection of boulders near a high point on the island of Aruba.

The quartz diorite boulders are an anolmalous formation on the island which tends to be sandy. One theory is that the formations were left by the Arawak Indians, native to South America. There are stil petroglyphs of Arawak origin.

The boulder formations create a landscape of marked walking trails, including one large formation with stairs and ladders carved into the stone that visitors can climb and see views stretching across the entire island on a clear day. There are plenty of shaded areas and benches as well. 

The arid area is dotted with cacti, and animals such as the Shoco burrowing owl and Aruban Whiptail Lizard can be seen amongst the boulders.

Parking is available in a dirt lot across from the entrance and beside a bar and restaurant that tends to play a variety of amplified dance music that can be heard throughout the Casibari Rock Formation. There is no fee to visit the area.

Similarly the Ayo Rock Formations park area is nearby and offers similar features.
