The Mackinac Bridge is a suspension bridge that connects Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas. The bridge spans the Straits of Mackinac which connects Lake Michigan to Lake Huron. The bridge, including the approaches, is about five miles in length making it the longest suspension bridge between cable anchorages in the Western Hemisphere. The Mackinac Bridge took over three years to build and opened to traffic in 1957.

There is a toll of $4 (as of 2023) for passenger vehicles to cross the bridge. There are great places to view the Mackinac Bridge near both ends of the bridge. To the north there is Bridge View Park and to the south there are public areas for viewing on Old Mackinac Point. There is a large parking lot under the south end of the bridge. One day a year, Labor Day, pedestrians are allowed to walk across the Mackinac Bridge in an event called the Annual Bridge Walk.
