The Isle of Wight Wildlife Management area is a small, 200-acre island located in the Assawoman Bay, just a mere 5-minute drive from Ocean City, Maryland off the Route 90 bridge. The area is a tidal marshland, and it is maintained specifically for wildlife management; however, on the southern end there is a public recreation area with a parking lot, fishing piers, and multiple picnic tables.

One of the many reasons people enjoy visiting the Isle of Wight Wildlife Management Area is, obviously, the wildlife. The island plays host to many different species of birds, including herons, water fowl, and migratory birds. The island and surrounding areas are very popular for birding enthusiasts.

In addition to birds, the island is perfect for fishing or crabbing, either from one of the piers located within the recreation area or from the marsh itself. There is a small area for kayaks and other small watercraft to launch from. Hunting is also permitted on the northern end of the island, permits and seasons allowing.

Another great feature of the island is that it offers a unique, panoramic view of Ocean City, and has a medium-sized picnic area, perfect for a relaxing day away from the hustle and bustle.
