The Welch–Dickey Loop is a great hike for all ages and provides hikers with views from both Welch Mountain and Dickey Mountain. Though most hikers head up Welch Mountain first, you can choose which direction you’d like to go from the large, paved parking area. With stone steps and gradual grades, getting to the first viewpoint on the trail to Welch is a fairly easy hike.

Notice the jack pine on Welch Mountain, which grows in only four other places in New Hampshire. After that, the trail mixes with some steeper sections the rest of the way that include open, granite slab at times. These sections may not be the best for very young children, but older children, teens, and anyone who enjoys a little easy scrambling will be awarded views of the White and Green Mountains along the way. Keep an eye out for blueberries and wildflowers during the summer, and take in the gorgeous fall foliage in September and October.
