The short, coastal Chief Tsiltcoos Trail in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area is a great spot to explore if you’re staying at one of the nearby campgrounds. The 1-mile loop through the forest has a bit of elevation gain with a viewpoint of the sand dunes and the Pacific Ocean (on a clear day). While the trail doesn’t provide many opportunities for taking in the sights, it does give you a chance to get up close with the coastal forest ecosystem. Keep an eye out for a variety of birds and small wildlife who call this area home.

The trail connects to the Dirftwood II Campground, a popular spot for OHV. A parking area is located at the Stagecoach Trailhead, which also connects to other trails and campgrounds in the area, and it is just across the road from the Chief Tsiltcoos Trailhead. The self-serve fee station is also located at the trailhead.
