Alderwood State Wayside

Located in Lane County along highway 36, Alderwood State Wayside is the perfect spot to take a break on your way to or from the Oregon Coast. It gives you a chance to get out, stretch your legs, and take in the beautiful old, coastal forests. Wildflowers are abundant during the spring and in the fall, and cutthroat trout can be seen in the Long Tom River. The land was purchased in 1931, and the day use picnic area was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the mid 1930s. Today it is a good place for a quick break or lunch.

The site, which is open year round, includes vault toilets, a picnic table, fishing along the river, and some short hiking trails.
