Salt Creek Falls + Diamond Creek Falls Snowshoe

While both Salt Creek Falls and Diamond Creek Falls are wonderful trips spring through fall, a winter visit provides beautiful perspectives on these falls along with noticeably more solitude. The Salt Creek Falls and Diamond Creek Falls loop makes a great day trip for snowshoers, and the area is easily accessible via the Salt Creek Sno-Park, located about an hour from Eugene on the well-maintained Highway 58. From the winter parking area, ski or snowshoe along the unmaintained road to reach the summer parking area, where you'll find vault toilets and information about Salt Creek Falls. From here you can proceed to the Salt Creek Falls Observation Area, which is less than a mile from the parking area. Follow the trail down to the lower viewing area for stunning winter views of one of Oregon's tallest waterfalls.

Once you've finished, continue south to a trail junction and take the footbridge over Salt Creek. The well marked loop includes viewpoints of Salt Creek Canyon and Diamond Creek Falls. The loop takes you through the forest and crosses the Forest Service road a few times. Be sure to look for the blue trail markers. Use caution along the trail and view points, as there may be icy patches.
