Upper Lagunitas Campground is a small campground that is situated just above the lovely Lagunitas Lakes at an elevation of over 10,000 ft. The setting is quite scenic and the lakes can be accessed via a short downhill hike (the lakes offer great fishing for brook and rainbow trout). The Cruces Basin Wilderness is next door and especially beautiful. Additionally, the Continental Divide Trail runs beside the lakes and offers miles of hiking opportunities.

Camping at Upper Lagunitas is first come, first served and free. There are a handful of sites, mostly informal with a dispersed camping feel. Amenities are few but some sites have picnic tables. There is also a vault toilet within the campground.

Campsites here are a bit more friendly to those with larger trailers than the Lower Campground, but are still best for those with smaller setups. Access is via a long gravel road. The campground is, of course, snowed in during the winter months. Travel may also be difficult during spring months or when roads are wet.
