San Gregorio Reservoir is a beautiful body of water found within the San Pedro Parks Wilderness Area. The reservoir is a popular destination with locals, and can easily be accessed via a short hike (about a mile) from the Vacas Trail/San Gregorio Lake Trailhead ( #51) off Forest Road 70.

The reservoir is a great spot to enjoy a hike, or bring a fishing rod and try your luck for Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout and Rainbow Trout. Grassy meadowland surrounds the lake, as do spruce, pine and aspen trees.

For those looking to explore further, a network of trails lead deep into the San Pedro Parks Wilderness and can be accessed from the lake. The Las Vacas Trail (also the CDT) climbs alongside Clear Creek and up to Rio de las Vacas Creek, a beautiful area.
