This loop hike is location in Black River Park.  The trail and part of the loop traverse along the Lamington River.  There is no Black River within the park.  Trailhead parking is located across from the Old Mill Tavern.  From the gravel parking lot, walk toward a gate that leads to Coopers Mill.  The trail turn toward the river with the mill on the right.  This is the start of the Patiot's Path - Blue trail.

Stay on the Patriot's Path - Blue for 1.5 miles.  The trail will split here with the Patriot's Path going left and a Green trail to the right.  Here, the Patriot's Path turns away from the river and travels through the forest for another 2 miles.

After this last 2 miles, the Patriot's Path - Blue trail meets a junction with the Patriot's Path - Red trail on the right.  Turn right here and follow the Patriot's Path - Red trail.  This trail returns down to the Lamington River.  Another .5 miles along the Patriot's Path - Red turn sharply right with a green blazed trail going straight.  To stay along the river, follow the green blazed trail.  In another .5 miles is the stone ruins of Kay's Cottage with a dam and waterfall on the other side of the river.

From Kay's Cottage it is another .5 miles to join back with the Patriot's Path - Blue trail and 1.5 miles back to the trailhead.

This scenic loop hike is located in Black River Park, where the trail follows part of the Lamington River. Despite the name, there is no Black River within the park, but the trail offers a tranquil, natural experience. The trailhead parking is conveniently located across from the Old Mill Tavern. From the gravel lot, walk towards the gate leading to Coopers Mill. The path begins by turning toward the river with the mill on your right. This marks the start of the Patriots Path - Blue Trail, where hikers can enjoy a peaceful journey through the park's beautiful landscape.
