Playa Secreto, or Secret Beach, is a beach access point with very limited parking located south of Tulum in the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve.
Located about 15km south of central Tulum on the road to Punta Allen, Secret Beach is a simple point along the road where there are no villas or developments between the road and the sea. As Mexican beaches are all legally accessible to the public, however access points to the beach often lie on private and restricted land.
For those making the drive through the busy and slow Zona Hotelera, Secret Beach is a spot of Tulum's beautiful white sand beaches meeting colorful tropical waters. The effort to reach this point ensures that you may only encounter a couple other people during your time at the beach, if that.
There are no signs marking the beach, and no phone signal, but the directions are pretty simple in that the beach lies about 4km south of the Arco Maya entrance gate where everyone entering the reserve must stop and pay MX$36 to proceed onto the reserve. The road generally follows along dispersed villas and homes on the sea-side of the road. The road will pass a point where there is no home or fence, but instead a visible path leading to the water, with maybe 4 spots where cars might fit on the shoulder. This is the access point to Secret Beach. If you reach the Villa Destiny, you've gone too far.
There are no amenities of any kind here. Aside from a couple neighboring villas, Secret Beach is pure unspoiled coastline and warm Caribbean waters.
