Laguna Kaan Luum is a breathtakingly beautiful lagoon located about 16km south of central Tulum.
The lagoon, reachable from a short walk along dirt and plank walkways from the parking area, consists of a couple wooden decks with docks stretching into the colorful waters. In the center of the lagoon contains an underwater cave that sinks to a depth believed to be about 80 meters. This gives the lagoon a dark blue color, while the fringes are a light emerald tone. While the shallow parts sink to about shoulder depth near the edge of the sinkhole, signs restrict crossing over to the deeper area.
There are minimal developments; some deck space, basic bathrooms, a shaded patio with several tables and chairs, and ladders into the water. Swings and hammocks sit perched over the water. No food or drinks are available for sale, but visitors are welcome to bring their own. There are also no lockers or equipment rentals of any kind.
Laguna Kaan Luum is beautiful, and an emerging gem as its still stays relatively quiet compared to some of the cenotes and beaches nearer to Tulum. Visitors are asked not to wear sunblock, bug spray or lotions to the lagoon in order to preserve its clarity.
Laguna Kaan Luum is open daily from 9am-5pm. Admission is MX$100 per person.
