The historic red Sun Valley Barn is a bit of an iconic place that you’ve probably seen on instagram before. It is located right alongside Sun Valley Road between downtown Ketchum and Sun Valley Resort. There is a wide pullout where you can park and check out the barn.

The barn was built in the early 1880s. It is thought to have been used to service ore wagons that traveled the Trail Creek Road. Today it is a landmark beloved by tourists and locals alike.

You’ll also find a historic building and water wheel belonging to the Idaho Power Company here. This was the site of the first electricity generated in the state of Idaho. In addition to the water wheel, there is also a bi-polar generator housed here as a relic. The generator was first used in Michigan, but is now displayed here thanks to the University of Idaho.
