Grandjean to Ten Lakes Basin is a 41.9-mile loop route through the Sawtooth Wilderness. The route starts from the Grandjean Trailhead which is located off of the Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway / Highway 21. This route traverses across a varied terrain including thick forests, open meadows, and rocky basins. There are sparling alpine lakes, flowing creeks, and scenic backcountry campsites. It is an easy to moderate route with one gradual climb at the beginning followed by a gradual descent.

DESCRIPTION

From the Grandjean Trailhead, take the Trail Creek Trail to the South Fork - Payette River Trail #452 and head south. Following the river, the trail gently ascends as it winds through Big Meadows, past Elk Lake, and eventually meets the Benedict Creek Trail. Continue on the South Fork - Payette River Trail #452 to Virginia Lake. After that, the South Fork - Payette River Trail #452 heads east, but our route heads south on the Ten Lake Basin Trail.

At Spangle Lake turn right head northwest on the Benedict Trail. At the next junction, you'll reconnect with the South Fork - Payette River Trail #452, head north, and retrace your steps back to Grandjean.
