Las Grietas is a popular destination for both locals and tourists. Grieta is Spanish for "crack," and the aptly named Las Grietas are deep cracks in the volcanic landscape leading out to the ocean.

At Las Grietas there are three consecutive pools that can all be easily reached by swimming. The water is crystal clear and often has a deep emerald or blue color, making this a fun snorkel destination. You will find small caves along the sides of each of the pools approximately 5 to 10 feet underwater, and there are a good number of fish near the bottom of the pools approximately 25 feet down.

If the pools are not too crowded, this is an ideal location for cliff jumping. Jagged rock walls allow for climbing and jumping from numerous locations, and the deep cracks ensure plenty of depth for even the highest of jumps.
